I've blogged about basketball since 2006. I wrote about the Phoenix Suns for Ball and Phoenix Suns Rising. I started We Always Win in 2009 and started writing and curating content about the league as a whole.

TOUR

A few factors brought the tour to fruition. 1. I was very intrigued by mobile interactive publishing. 2. I wanted to do something substantial about basketball. 3. My mother passed in 2012 and her retirement wish was travel around the country in an RV with her pug Vert.

The planning was quite involved. I had to find convenient pockets of games to minimize the travel. I divided the country into sections.

Florida: Miami, Orlando

Texas Triangle: San Antonio, Houston, Dallas

West Coast: Los Angeles (x2), SF/Oakland, Sacramento, Phoenix

Northwest: Denver, Salt Lake City, Portland

East 1: Indianapolis, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Washington DC

South/East 2: Oklahoma City, Memphis, Atlanta, Charlotte, New Orleans, Detroit, New York, Boston, Springfield (HOF), Toronto

DEVELOPMENt

After the tour, I sketched out some designs for a consistent experience with each city. Once I put together the interface for what I wanted, I connected with visual designer/illustrator Robb Harskamp to add his signature style to the project.
