Texas.gov Redesign

Workplace: Deloitte Digital

Client: Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR)

Timeframe: November 2019 - April 2021

What I Did: UX lead. Research. Client workshops. User testing.

Website: texas.gov

The Texas.gov redesign was a substantial project with some pandemic-related challenges. The legacy version was a one-page site with a plugin that provided filterable agency information. We kicked off with workshops to better understand the site’s purpose, pain points and goals. In our research, we did comparative analysis and user tested different approaches to navigation and site layout. Various government agencies are clients of DIR so our approach to content design and SEO had to account for their needs individually and collectively- as Texas.gov is the primary driver of traffic for many of them. Our redesigned site is mobile responsive and has a new structure with parent and child pages. Additionally agencies and services have dedicated directory pages. The site is more scalable and the template-based approach makes it easier to add agency content. Texas.gov is also the largest implementation of the Texkit, which helps socialize the design system in the larger Texas web ecosystem.
