The worst part of basic training is no music. You might hear a song here and there on a bus to a rifle range but you couldn’t just put on a CD and chill. About a month into my advanced training (close to 4 months without music), after an inspection we got our ‘privileges’ back. We could wear 'civilian’ clothes, listen to music and leave the base. Everyone goes to the mall and me and my peers were no different. Kid A had just come out so I bought it, along with some gaudy new clothes. Someone in my room bought a clock radio with a CD player so I nabbed it and listened to Kid A on repeat. The music sounded how I wanted music to sound. It was in my dreams as well. It’s my favorite album.
